I've got everything I need to install aftermarket subs/amp in the wife's 05 NB Vert...everything but the information on the monsoon amp wiring. I am familiar with the monsoon system in my 03 GTI, but I don't know how much different, if at all, the wiring is in the 05 NB. I need to know specifically which wires to tap for the LOC, as well as the remote wire so the amp/subs will turn on when the HU is turned on. Thanks for looking.

get turn on from the 75x terminal. all your speaker wires behind the deck that you would want to tap are heavier gage "twisted pair" wires. you rreally can tap any of them that you want, its all the same really coming out of the head unit.

I just thought it would be easier to tap into the harness going directly into the Monsoon amp, as it's local and I won't have to run as much wiring through the cabin to the trunk. I did it in my GTI with great success. However, it sounds like you guys suggest tapping directly out of the back of the HU as a better route; perhaps I should rethink my strategy.

Just for clarification, are you suggesting tapping any of the speaker wires coming out of the HU as a remote source?

I don't quite understand what you mean by the 75x lug under the dash.

Underneath the driver's footwell there is a powerblock. It's roughly where your left knee would be while your driving. There is a terminal marked "75X"

Ah, okay. That would act as a remote signal to turn the aftermarket amp on and off with the HU? Sheesh, this was NOT as difficult in my GTI!
